Texas Cake

Texas Cake

Mix together:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
This is the flour mixture...
Bring to boil:
2 squares butter
1/3 cup cocoa
1 cup water
Add the above to the flour mixture, and then add:
1 beaten egg & ½ cup buttermilk [although it’s almost preferred to substitute 1 tsp soda in ½ cup milk to the buttermilk]. Stir in well.
Pour into a cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes.
Let the cake cool 5 minutes, then frost.

Frosting
1/3 c. milk
3 T. cocoa
1 sq. butter
1 tsp vanilla
2 ½ c. powdered sugar (or more)
We add walnuts, but those are optional.
